THINK is a new magazine published in British Columbia. It's first edition will be released in September, and there will be an online edition too. THINK is looking for stories with broad, international appeal. We want items on subjects that the mainstream media in North America overlooks, ignores or purposely ridicules. For example, although free trade is a big issue in North America, few Canadians are aware of how well, or how poorly, the European Union's free trade system works. They don't realise there is any difference between the EU and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement). So a feature explaining how the two versions of free trade differ and, how European free trade effects every day life in the UK would be of interest to many THINK readers. Well researched stories about the international war against terrorism, or the war on drugs; the rebirth of fascism and antisemitism; environmental subjects; radical economic theories; conspiracy theories; overpopulation...those are the kind of subjects we want to cover. There is a severe shortage of freelancers in Canada, so foreign freelance writers can establish a good long term market as regular THINK contributors. We want to pay top rates for quality content, but since THINK is a brand new magazine in an underdeveloped market, we must begin at starter-market rates. We offer an absolute minimum of five cents per word (75 pounds sterling per 3,000 words). There is extra payment for photos or illustrations submitted with copy. Payment is made upon publication. Show us your worth at that starter rate, and watch your payment for future submissions grow with each new edition. You retain ownership of your copyrights and bylines are always included on published work. Help us break new ground and grow with us. We are in desperate need of good copy now, so please send your best work a.s.a.p. to Chambers@coppervalley.bc.ca.
