Warning from FreeUkclassifieds To all Users please beware of internet SCAMS! |
Dear Advertiser, It seems that with every new technology, there are individuals who are interested in subverting that technology for their own selfish gains. The Internet is fertile ground for such individuals. It has come to our attention recently that some advertisers who have ads posted on Freeukclassifieds have become the target of various scam artists. The most prevalent of these scams is one that originates in West Africa or Nigeria and involves the use of forged Cashier's Cheques. The scammer will offer to send you a Cashier's Cheque for several pounds more than your asking price. After you deduct your payment for the item, you will then be asked to wire-transfer the balance back to the scammer. By the time the bank discovers that the Cashier's Cheque is forged, the scammer will have your money. They actually have no interest in your item, but will pretend to be making shipping arrangements to Africa. If someone offers to pay you several pounds more for your item than your asking price! and then asks you to wire-transfer the difference to them - BEWARE!. |
